Grazing of mountain dairy
The idea of founder is that forage herb is changed to milk, and grass and cow are one. Therefore, grazing and forage production are the most important management on the farm. The milking and raising Jerseys are fed a pasture by whole-day grazing particularly in summer (Grazing runs from May 15 until late October, depending on conditions). The pasture plants are mainly temperate grasses, such as orchard grass, red top, Kentucky bluegrass and so on. Therefore, the cattle are exceptionally healthy and vigorous. Grazing is great exercise, and feet are well worn.
On the contrary, in winter season, the majority of the Jersey herd is housed in a free barn. The main feed is the roll bale silage and hay that are harvested in the 20-hectare of field on the farm.
